I have a crazy week planned, with the midmonth loaded with 5 posts in 8 days, so we'll smash this anniversary special to begin the proceedings.

This one is all about Wayne Horvitz's band he patterned after the classic 1970s Meters, named after one of that genre-defining group's most beloved, hip-shaking N'awlins tunes.

They've been a thing since the 1990s, beginning as the house band at a hotel in Seattle, and since 1995 they've intermittently toured and recorded with Wayne's funkifized, Art Neville-esque keyboards leading the way.

This is one of those posts where there isn't a whole lot to say, and the music just carries the weight. There are hardly any pictures of them online, too, which means this will be short and to the point!

I have a whole folderful of Zony Mash shows, and this one -- highly representative as it is -- was taped 23 years ago tonight in their home city of Super Bowl Seattle. Coincidence?

These guys funk harder than backwards algebra, so if you are feeling that Seventies organ shit, this is your night.
